MONTGOMERY BALLROOM CLUB
HOST/HOSTESS
DUTIES
Select decorations, theme, etc. The decorations may be as elaborate or as simple as you wish. At a minimum, tablecloths are to be placed on tables and some type of candle or other lighting placed on each table. While there is no limit on the elaborate side, the budget is limited. Prior to spending any money on decorations, you should get permission from the Vice-President so you can be reimbursed. The theme will typically be set by the season although there is no rule against using other themes as long as they are tasteful. The Club has a lot of decorations which can be used.
Provide or arrange to have provided food for the dance. You can have other members bring food, cater it, or take care of it by yourself. BUT…the Club will not reimburse for any food. All food provided is considered a donation.
Drinks, ice, plates, cups, napkins, and plasticware will be provided by the Club and the Host/Hostess will not have to arrange for this.
Purchase a door prize in the amount of $30. This has typically been some type of gift certificate but anything which would be universally appreciated can be selected. Bring the door prize to the Dance with you as well as your receipt and you will be reimbursed.
Decorate the MASDA (or other location as appropriate). You will need to arrange with the Vice-President a time for entry into the storage room (located at ClimaStore on the corner of Bell and Vaughn) and into the MASDA. The MASDA is available for decorating on the day of the dance.
Replenish food and drink as appropriate during the dance.
Man the front desk from 30 minutes prior to start of the dance until the first intermission. Greet and check in all member and guests, take money as appropriate. After the first intermission you will no longer need to man the desk, but keep an eye out for late arrivals and greet them.
Assist in cleaning up and re-storing the decorations at the conclusion of the dance. This normally takes no longer than 30 minutes except for special events (luau, etc.)
Thank you for helping. Without your help, the Club would not be able to function.
