The Dance Club

The Dance Club, which is a non-profit organization, consists of a committee of ten volunteers who are dedicated ballroom dancers. Their objective is to give Huntsville dancers (including themselves) a truly great place to enjoy dancing on a regular, weeknight basis.

Guest admission: All guests welcome. Dressy casual except for 10th anniversary dance which is semi-formal. No BYOB. No Smoking. Admission $ 4/person CD, $ 6/person Band. Band usually on first Tuesday of each month.

Every Tuesday night from 7:30-10:15, The Dance Club presents ballroom dancing at Skate Odyssey. The 12,000 sq. Ft. wooden dance floor is perhaps the largest in the South and one of the largest in the country. On the first Tuesday in each month music is provided by a live band, while on other Tuesdays recorded music is played. Group instructions during the first 45 minutes. Admission: with recorded music $ 4, with live music $ 6 (includes group lesson).

This is for dancers of all ages. You do not have to bring a partner. Dress is casual, and soft drinks are available. The Odyssey offers the combination of a large dance floor, good air conditioning, an excellent sound system, and a smoke-free environment. This is ballroom dancing at its best.

Huntsville Swing Dance Society

The Huntsville Swing Dance Society is a non profit organization dedicated to preserving and promoting swing dance in the Huntsville and North Alabama region. The Society sponsors monthly dances, often with live bands, and provides an alternative venue for swing dancing beyond what is typically found in "ballroom dancing." Dances are open to the public and include a free 45-minute lesson at the beginning of each dance.

The Huntsville Swing Dance Society was founded in 1995 and strives to support all styles of swing including: Lindy Hop, Jitterbug, Shag, East Coast Swing, and West Coast Swing. The Society offers swing dance lessons and workshops, and performs demonstrations and exhibitions at charity and community events. Membership is $20/person or $32/family and includes discounts for dances and lessons.

MARS Ballroom Dance Club

The MARS Ballroom Dance Club was organized for government employees of the Marshall Space Flight Center and the independent contractors who work with them. Membership is $5/person or $10/family. Dance lessons are given approximately four times a month for six months of the year.

The Senior Center Ballroom Dance Club of the Huntsville Senior Center meets every Monday at 9:30 AM for dance lessons. The cost is $1 and participants must be 60 years of age or over. The club also holds dances that the general public may attend. The club is providing practice time every Monday and Friday, 12:45-2:15 in the Senior Center auditorium. Ballroom music will be provided, bring your favorite music if you wish. No need to be a member of the class to attend.

UAH Dance Club
University of Alabama in Huntsville

Providing a place to practice the skills learned in dance classes at the University of Alabama in Huntsville, the UAH Dance Club sponsors a dance in the University Center exhibition hall once monthly. Dance enthusiasts from the University and the Huntsville community are on hand to enjoy a free dance lesson and dancing to a wide variety of music, from the big bands of the 40's to contemporary popular artists.

Club membership is free to UAH students and $10 a year for non-credit students or the general public. This small annual fee covers admission to the monthly dance, as well as a quarterly newsletter, which lists current information about other places to dance in Huntsville. Come and meet other people of all ages and backgrounds who share a fascination with dance!

The Latin Dance and Social Club of Huntsville keeps Latin music lovers acquainted with the Latin scene in Huntsville, Alabama. The Huntsville Hispanic community promotes the Hispanic culture by organizing a variety of activities. The Kinesthetic Cue Dance Club is all about having FUN.  They opened in Madison, Alabama, on January 15, 1999, and for the last seven years have been teaching people in the Huntsville and Madison, Alabama, area to dance. 

As a club they have FUN attending numerous and various social events together.  Some of the dances that they go to include the MARS (Marshall Area Recreation Services) Christmas, Valentine, Luau, and New Year's Eve dinner-dances at the Von Braun Civic Center.  They go to the Alzheimer Association's formal benefit dinner-dance featuring the Glenn Miller Orchestra, and to the formal Cotton Ball benefit dinner-dance in the fall, both at the Civic Center.

Administered by a very dedicated group of volunteers, this social club boasts 150 members from all walks of life. If you want to meet and dance with true ballroom aficionados, this is the place to go. Membership is limited to 150. To become a member you must be sponsored by an existing member.

If you wish to attend as a guest, you must be sponsored by a member. So, please call ahead.

Ballroom dancing on the first Saturday of every month. Usually at the Montgomery Area Square Dance Association Hall on Chestnut St., 7:30-10:30 pm . (Directions)

Live music three or four times a year, otherwise Ken Stafford provides the recorded music. The Christmas ball is held at the Alcazar Shrine (Directionsand is the highlight of the year. For this event, as a non-member, you must purchase your ticket in advance.

Admission for Guests $ 15.00. Drinks are free. No alcohol or smoking. Usually finger food is provided.

Dress code: When there's live music, dress code for gentlemen is formal, or dark suit and tie, cocktail dress or evening pants and top for the ladies. Otherwise, dark suit and tie for the gentlemen, 'after five' for the ladies during the months of November to May. During the hot months, dressy casual.

The Stardust Ballroom Dance Club meets on the second Saturday of each month. They usually host their dances at St. Bede's church, on the corner of Atlanta Highway and Perry Hill Road, except for June and July when they rent a different venue.

The club is for couples. First time visit is free, after that admission is $ 15. You can join the club for a quarterly membership fee of $30. This June (2004) the club celebrates its 21st anniversary. Their Oktoberfest and Christmas dances also include dining.

PRICEVILLE PALACE has a nicely laid out Floor design (Linoleum surface) that is partitioned (lined off) to accommodate both Line Dancing and Couples Dancing. Overhead, rotating, lighted mirrored Ball, Stage lighting for band and easy access identifying emergency lights/exit doors. All types of dance lessons (couples/line) are available, even during the band break times; Mostly given on Saturday Nights as part of the normal dance hours. Special Dance Lessons available upon request; Lessons are FREE on Saturday Nights, Private lessons ar normally given, with nominal hourly fee (as determined by Dance /Line Instructor).


The Priceville Palace is a very special, semi-private, NON DRINKING Dance Club, designed for people with the sole purpose of DANCING and "Kickin' up their Heels" in mind! There is ample building space /outside parking to handle upwards to (300) people comfortably. The club is available for rental for private events as well. The Palace is normally open to the public, Thursday through Saturday nights each week. There are Live Bands on the weekends, cover charges are: Friday Night($4.00) and Saturday Night ($5.00), which covers attendance to the dances. The first Thursday of each month is also a BIG BAND Night, with a small cover charged for that event as well. I highly recommend folks to come and check out this special "Honky Tonk", located in the heart of North Alabama, and bring the entire family. You won't be disappointed by what you see and hear!
