Dear CZC Friends,

Don’t forget…Naomi’s Shrimp Boil and Rug Dance is this Saturday, July 24^th from 5:00 until ?. Each year, longtime CZC member Naomi Ashworth graciously hosts a party for CZC at her charming farm out in Toney featuring a genuine Cajun shrimp boil, complete with shrimp, sausage, corn and potatoes! The party this year will be held (rain or shine). Naomi puts down a wooden dance floor in the back yard for our dancing pleasure and Jam Master Hal Beech will start spinning CZ CD's starting around 5:00.   Thankfully, Martin will be in charge of cooking the shrimp boil again this year and plans on having the food ready about 5:30-ish. The dancin’ and socializin’ will continue until it ends.   Great fun indeed!  Hope to see you there!!

Things to Bring:

• A potluck dish to share
• Beverage of your choice (we'll provide water and lemonade)
• Lawn chair
• Insect repellant (we'll spray beforehand, but they still tend to come out!)
• Folding table if you have one and can transport it for extra food serving space.
• If you can help set up the stage, or tables, before 5,  please give Steve Caldwell a call @ 461 8771  evenings

Admission: FREE! (There will be a donation jar if anyone wants to contribute anything to the cause). Open to all Zydeco and Cajun music lovers, no charge, just bring a potluck dish to share!

From Birmingham: I 65 north to I 565 East/Huntsville, exit on Research Park Blvd (Highway 255 North), follow Rearch Park Blvd to Hwy 53 North, follow Hwy 53 to Publix shopping center, turn right on Jeff Rd app 1 mile, right (1st rd to right) on Carters Gin Rd, 3rd driveway on the right.  Look for balloons on the mailbox.

**************  Shrimp Blast at the VBC  ************

On Saturday, Aug 7, the Von Braun Center will be hosting the Shrimp Blast from 11:00am until 11:00pm, featuring a variety of music and food. Among the musical acts will be longtime CZ favorites Lil’ Malcolm and The Zydeco House Rockers and Roux du Bayou! Other musical acts will include a variety of country and rock singers. Bands will be playing both indoors and outdoors (CZ acts are on the indoor stage!). No schedule has been published yet but we know that Roux du Bayou will play from 3:30-5:15. You can click here to check the Shrimp Blast website for updates on the other bands’ schedules as the event gets closer. Food, including Low Country Boils, Fried Shrimp and Roasted Corn, will be for sale by the plate. General admission is $10.

**************  C/Z DANCE CALENDAR  ************

Speaking of Roux du Bayou, they will also be playing at Humphrey’s Bar and Grill in downtown Huntsville on Saturday, Aug 7^th at 9:00 pm (though the bands at Humphrey’s have been known to start late). No cover charge. So make a day of it in downtown Huntsville and catch Lil’ Malcolm and Roux du Bayou at the Shrimp Blast and then dance the night away to Roux du Bayou at Humphrey’s!!

Humphrey’s is located near the corner Jefferson St and Washington St in downtown Huntsville.
