Future BBDA
Dances
April will have two dances. On Saturday, April 3rd, Dr.
Dance will teach American Tango at our nighttime dance. On April 18, we will
have a Sunday Afternoon Tea Dance, at Galleria Woods Retirement Community
featuring The Tradewinds Band. There is no admission charge for this dance at
Galleria Woods. Join us from 3:30
to 5:50 at Galleria Woods and dance on their new wooden floor. Galleria Woods is
located on Highway 150 across from the Riverchase Galleria. For additional directions call 985-7537.
There is free parking and refreshments will be served. The ballroom is located
on the second floor.

BBDA at Bailey’s
Dance
Chris Bailey has asked BBDA to host the Ballroom
Dance to be held on March 5th at the new BAILEY DANCE studio, 8-10 pm. Admission
$10 per person.
If you have not yet danced at this
location, you really do need to give it a try. There is a LARGE WOODEN dance floor, giving the
dancers plenty of room to twirl. Refreshments and beverages are included in
the price. Chris will play all styles of ballroom music, including Latin and
American, mixers and line dances.
BAILEY
DANCE is
located in Hoover on Highway 31, just one-half mile south of the
Galleria. If you are coming south
on Hwy 31, you'll see Five Guys Burgers on your right and

Lobby on your left (that'll obviously be reversed if you are
coming from the southern suburbs and going
north on 31). Turn into
the Hobby Lobby
area, and go to the inside
corner of this shopping area. There is plenty
of free lighted parking.
2nd Annual Dance to Remember
Benefiting Alzheimer’s of
The date of our
benefit dance will be Friday, October 8, 2010. BBDA will partner with
Concordia Beneficial Society as we did last year. Take an active part in
planning this event. If you
would like to work on this project and help with the planning, contact Priscilla
Collums. The dance we held in November, 2009 was a great success. BBDA was able to present ACA a check for
$4,000 and we hope to increase that amount this year.

Magazine, Dr. Oz lists 5 ways to keep your brain sharp. Number three on this list is “Sign Up
for Dance Lessons”. He states one
should pick a workout that stimulates you mentally and physically. Moving the body in a coordinated fashion
with complex movements in sync with the music requires lots of brainpower. Dancing also works your heart.

On Feb 16th
Galleria Woods invited BBDA members to their Mardi Gras Party. Joe Wesley took the lead on this
occasion acting as the liaison between BBDA and Galleria Woods. Several of our
members attended, dancing with the single ladies. Susan Stofel reported that all “her
ladies” were very happy and looking forward to our dance with them on April
18th. Many were planning
shopping trips to buy new dancing dresses for the event. Thanks to all who attended and helped to
make this a festive event.
