February 10 Entry Deadline: the beat:Choreography Competition promotes the creation of new dance works and gives festival audiences the opportunity to fully experience the art of dance.Choreographers aged 18 and over may enter up to four original works from four categories: Ballet, Jazz, Modern, and Other.
Panoply awards the winner in each of the four categories $500 and the prize for Best Overall Choreography is $1,000.

February 11: Auditions and placement for Grebel Center for Dance's Summer Dance Program from 11:00 am - 12:30 pm for ages 8 through 19. Summer Dance will offer 5 days per week of classes including ballet technique, repertory, jazz, modern, conditioning and Friday Specialty classes.

February 12: "Dessertissements" is the annual fundraiser by the Alabama Youth Ballet Guild for the Alabama Youth Ballet Company. The event features a silent auction, desserts and wine, entertainment by "Fiddlin' in the Parlor" and a performance by the Alabama Youth Ballet Company. The dancers will give a sneak-preview of their upcoming Spring Dance Concert pieces, including a new work by renowned teacher and choreographer Stevan Grebel. The Junior Company will perform jazz, lyrical and a new piece by Dmitri Roudnev. Advance tickets are $20 per couple or $12 per person and may be purchased from Alabama Youth Ballet Guild members and at Grebel Center for Dance.

February 18-19: Taryn Packheiser will perform Stag Unassisted 3.0 on Saturday, February 18th at 7pm and Sunday, February 19th at 2pm at the Children's Dance Foundation in Homewood, Alabama. This solo show features dance, theater, performance art and digital video projection. Stag Unassisted is a "piece of pieces" exploring the essential nature of "going solo." Tickets are $10 and will be available at the door.

February 26-27: Dmitri Roudnev has taken the best concepts from his experiences as a student and soloist of the famed Bolshoi Ballet in Russia. Roudnev's training is different from any other you have ever experienced. At the Workshop dancers will receive intense and thorough lessons full of corrections and insight. Roudnev will teach you to build lovely epaulment and upper body posture. He will show you how to build strength in the low back and abdomen. This in turn will help you learn to develop high arabesque, front and side extensions and elongated, non bulky mucles.
